Back in the Habit (2022-Present)
2022: Joy, Grief and Everything In Between
2022 the Abbey back in full swing! Pride after Pride after Pride, a brand-new calendar shoot, and Singing with the Sisters filling the Green Lantern month after month. From DC’s annual Cherry Blossom weekend to Club Q vigils, the Sisters showed up for celebration and for mourning alike, proving that after two hard years.
2023: Sequins and Solidarity
2023 saw Leather in January, Pride in June, and nearly 40 manifestations in between. The Abbey raised funds through Bingo, sang at the Green Lantern, marched for the living, and stood in remembrance for the dead — all while a new generation of Novices stepped into the fold.
2024: the abbey in full bloom
2024 was the DC Sisters’ most abundant year on record with 57 manifestations across the full spectrum of community life. Whether blessing drag pageants in January, marching in Pride in June, mourning at Trans Day of Remembrance in November, or raising funds at
Salvation Sisters in December, the Abbey was there. A new wave of Novices, Postulants, and Aspirants swelled the house’s ranks, carrying the mission forward with joy and purpose.
2025: Onward!
2025 wrote a story all it’s own. The Abbey marched at the Kennedy Center, celebrated a new elevation, and Guard Marquis brought the community together for a sober gaming night — proof that the DC Sisters’ ministry takes every form joy can imagine.
2026: Here we are
2026 the Sisters started off strong making Good Trouble in Baltimore protesting ICE’s presence, hosted a bingo fundraiser for individuals unjustly detained by those same agencies in Frederick, MD and showed up for the first of it’s kind Arlington Senior Pride Prom for LGBTQUAI2S senior citizens. Our year is still being written!
