2017: To the streets

2017 called the DC Sisters to the streets. From the National Women’s March to a protest outside the Russian Ambassador’s home in solidarity with LGBT victims in Chechnya, the Abbey answered every call — joyfully, defiantly, together.

2018: A Year long Habit

2018 was the Abbey at full stride- 31 manifestations spanning Leather events, Pride celebrations, political marches, and the beloved Singing with the Sisters nights at the Green Lantern. A new generation of Novices and Postulants stepped into their habits, and the Abbey’s community presence had never been stronger.

2019: New Rituals, Same Devotion

2019 saw the Abbey grow into new traditions without losing the existing ones. Sister Mavis and Guard Twista completed their novice projects, stepping fully into the fold, while the Sisters participated in Capital Trans Pride and walked once again to end HIV. Bingo remained the steady heartbeat of fundraising, and karaoke night joined the family- proof that reverence and a little mischief have always belonged in the same habit.
